At a ceremony in Edinburgh yesterday (Thursday 2nd Might) 22 members of staff from National health service Highland graduated as dementia champions front line workers who will help to ensure that people with the condition get the treatment and support they need.
They include thee people dementia nurse practitioner or healthcare provider Caroline Parr and violence, aggression as well as prevention advisors Angela Caruana and Lilias Coyne that work across the health board's spot.
A network of dementia winners is being developed across doctor's offices throughout Scotland through a programme backed up by the Scottish Government and delivered by the charity Alzheimer Scotland and the University or college of the West of Scotland.
In Highland, they are being supported by Ruth Layer, who was appointed last Mbt Shoes Sale year since the area's first Alzheimer Scotland Dementia Nurse Expert.
She said: "The people who have managed to graduate are from a range of disciplines, nevertheless they work mainly within acute hospital settings.
"Having individuals who have been trained as dementia winners represents a major step forward in this ability to care for people with dementia.
"It is critical that these patients get the sensible care they deserve, along with our new dementia champions will ensure that they do."
Ruth increased: "Some 4,000 people in the particular Highlands have dementia, and the number is expected to double in the next 25 years. A significant number of these people will discover themselves in hospital, potentially as a result of being injured in the fall.
"We realise that a hospital might be a difficult environment for some people, particularly when they have dementia, and we need to work closely with patients and their families to ensure that they are treated with dignity and that their independence and desires are respected."
Keynote sound system at yesterday's graduation ceremony in Murrayfield Stadium, Edinburgh, ended up Alex Neil, Cabinet Nike Heels Secretary for Wellbeing; Ros Moore, Chief Nursing Officer to the Scottish Government; and Henry Simmons, Us president of Alzheimer Scotland.
Training of the up coming batch of dementia champions coming from Fake Ray Ban Sunglasses across Scotland, which includes 12 by NHS Highland, began on Twenty fifth April.
