| The Women and Gender Equality Commission yesterday called for Minister of Health,Cheap Jerseys Free Shipping, Bheri Ramsaran,Indranie Chandarpalto resign following his recorded threats to a female activist in Berbice last week.The Commission expressed its “utter dismay” and argued that despite claims that he was goaded into such an outburst, the Minister should have acted with restraint, recognizing that he is a public officer.“All Guyanese have a constitutional right to ask questions of public officers, as much as those officers have a right to answer those questions in an appropriate manner. His reaction was uncalled for. His remarks are unacceptable for any person – far more so coming from a Minister of Government. He must face the full consequences of his actions and offer his resignation as the decent thing to do.”The Commission, headed by Indranie Chandarpal, a senior official of the ruling People’s Progressive Party/Civic) said that no woman, or any person, deserves to be treated in the manner of Ramsaran’s outburst.“All Guyanese must join in the condemnation of his actions, and the actions of any person that seeks to degrade our women.”The Minister landed in hot water after he had harsh words for Sherlina Nageer, the female activist, during a PPP/C organized protest at the Whim Police Station last week Monday.The Minister is not only heard telling Nageer to f*%k-off but threatened to slap her and have women strip her.The incident had sparked widespread condemnations from not only the Government but the Opposition andHealth Minister,Dr. Bheri Ramsaranthe diplomatic communities.There have been calls for his resignation but Government has refused to budge. |
