The overall performances in four subject areas at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Examination are being regarded as unsatisfactory, according to a preliminary report which was presented on Thursday by Education Minister Shaik Baksh.He disclosed that the grade one to three passes in English A, English B, Geography and Mathematics were less than 50 per cent.English A, he said, saw an overall pass rate of 27.97 per cent, English B, 37.21 per cent, Geography had a 49.21 per cent, and the Mathematics overall pass amounted to 30.64 per cent.Minister Baksh pointed out that, while there were improvements in Mathematics at both grades one to three and grades one to four, the performance can still be regarded as unsatisfactory.And in order to rectify the situation, the minister said, programmes will be put in place to provide a boost for students.However, he pointed out that excellent performances at grades one to four were recorded in 25 subjects, where the pass rate exceeded 90 per cent.These subjects include: Agriculture Science (DA), Agriculture Science (SA),NBA Authentic Jerseys, Biology, Chemistry, Clothing and Textiles, Information Technology (Technical), Food and Nutrition, French, Home Economics Management, Integrated Science, Music, Office Administration, Religious Education, Technical Drawing, Theatre Arts, Typewriting, Social Studies,Fernando Rodney Jersey, Visual Arts, Electronic Document Preparation and Management, Human and Social Biology, Physical Education and Sports, Building Technology (Construction), Building Technology (Woods), Electrical Technology, and Mechanical Engineering Technology.In the sciences, he said,Marlon Humphrey Jersey, excellent performances were specifically recorded in Agriculture Science, Integrated Science and Physics, while satisfactory performances were recorded in Biology and Chemistry.It was noted by the minister that the grade ones to three pass rate in Physics has improved significantly from 34.77 per cent last year to 78.11 per cent this year.Excellent performances were recorded in the business education subjects of Office Administration, and Information Technology General and Technical, he added.There was, however, a decline in the performance in Principles of Accounts and Business,Cheap Jerseys Free, which was described as satisfactory by the minister.Home Economic subjects such as Clothing and Textiles, Food and Nutrition and Home Economic Management recorded excellent performances with grades one to three passes exceeding 75 per cent,NFL Jerseys Cheap China, and grade one to four passes exceeding 90 per cent.Satisfactory performances were also recorded in 13 subjects, namely: Biology, Caribbean History, Chemistry,NFL Jerseys From China, Economics, Principles of Accounts, Principles of Business, Social Studies, Spanish, Technical Drawing, Visual Arts, and Building Technology.In each of the subjects, the grades one to three passes exceeded 50 per cent, while grades one to four passes were in excess of 75 per cent.In modern language subjects, satisfactory performances were recorded in Spanish for grades one to three with 62.75 per cent passes. In French, the grades one to three pass rate was 79.46 per cent.And, according to the minister, although Economics was written for the second time this year, there was improved performance, with grades one to three passes increasing from 53 to 66.89 per cent.He was also proud to relate that there was 100 per cent passes for grades one to three in Music, Physical Education and Sports, along with Theatre Arts. |
