| A Guyanese woman who was detained by police at Turkeyen on Tuesday has confessed to stabbing her Barbadian lover, resulting in his death at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation on Sunday.The woman had reported that Tyrone Best, 42,Randall Cunningham Eagles Jersey, a Sales Manager of the Sheraton Mall,Nolan Carroll Eagles Jersey, St. Michael,Branden Oliver Chargers Jersey, Barbados,Adam Joseph Duhe Dolphins Jersey, had been stabbed by bandits and relieved of $9,Jatavis Brown Chargers Jersey,000 on December 27, last,Herman Edwards Eagles Jersey, just a few yards from the house he and the woman were occupying in Sophia.The woman had initially told police that on December 27,Danny Woodhead Chargers Jersey, at about 17:30 hours, Best left the home to purchase cigarettes at a nearby shop.She claimed that a few minutes later,Dan Marino Dolphins Jersey, she heard him calling out to her and upon peering out,Jerome Brown Eagles Jersey, she saw Best clutching his abdomen as blood covered his clothes.The woman told police that Best had claimed that two men had attacked him and robbed him of $9,000 after stabbing him in his abdomen.He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was admitted.The following day he was discharged but complained of pain in his abdomen a day later.He was taken back to the hospital and was re-admitted but succumbed to his injuries a few days later.However, this report was only made after Best had succumbed from a single stab wound to his abdomen.This fact aroused the suspicion of the investigators who were not convinced by her story and the 22-year-old woman was detained and interrogated.According to a source, the Guyanese woman was residing in Barbados when she met Best, and the two of them decided to come to Guyana some time late last year.The woman in her confession told detectives that Best had accused her of having a relationship with another man.She said that on December 27, she and Best had visited relatives in Costello Housing Scheme and an argument ensued.The woman alleged that Best physically assaulted her all the way from Costello Housing Scheme to Albouystown.The beating continued when they reached their Sophia home and the woman armed herself with a knife and threatened to report the matter to the police.She claimed that Best again attacked her and having the knife in her hand, she stabbed him in self defence.She did not report the matter but instead took the injured Barbadian to the hospital where he was initially admitted.Although he was discharged, Best declined to report the matter to the police or confide in anyone the truth of how he was wounded.This newspaper understands that relatives of the dead Barbadian are expected in Guyana to witness the post mortem examination which will be performed tomorrow.Kaieteur News also learnt that the police have applied to the High Court to extend the period of detention of the woman until after the post mortem examination. |
