They are pooling their money to post a reward for anyone who can identify his killers.And even after almost a year, relatives are still in a state of shock over his brutal death. The dead man’s parents reside overseas but are in Guyana to commemorate his death anniversary.Caesar, 24, of Garnett Street, Albouystown, was shot dead on January 30, 2011, in Perry Street, Tucville. Reports indicate that the killers posed as passengers to lure Caesar to the area, which is poorly lit and desolate at night.They then shot their victim and fled with his valuables, leaving the mortally wounded man lying on the roadway.His sister, Carolyn Caesar-Murray, told Kaieteur News that police ranks told family members up to a few weeks ago that they have no fresh leads.“There is nothing new from the police…They did indicate that they are still looking into the matter, but they have no new leads.”Meanwhile, Charles Caesar’s many friends here and overseas have started a fund in an effort to assist in the investigation. Part of the money will go to anyone who could assist the police in identifying and apprehending the killers.Mrs. Murray said that her brother was an avid cricket-lover, and that some of the money might also be used to fund cricket matches in his memory.Caesar,NFL Jerseys Outlet, who is survived by his wife and a two-year-old daughter, had planned to embark on a career in journalism, his sister said.Relatives said that Caesar owned the vehicle that he was driving, and had been working with Ezee Runnings Taxi Service for about a year.In an interview shortly after his death, Caesar’s sister described him as “the nicest person…the kindest person,” and said that he had no enemies she knew of. Caesar’s employer had described him as “an honest and decent person.”According to reports, Caesar was at the Ezee Runnings Taxi Service base at around 23:30 hrs on January 29, 2011, when a man came to the Sheriff Street location and asked the taxi driver if he was working.Caesar indicated that he was and the passenger entered the front passenger seat. The driver reportedly then headed south along Sheriff Street.Kaieteur News was told that dispatchers at the taxi service made several attempts to contact Caesar on his radio set but got no response.Later that night, a Perry Street resident heard a gunshot. She only looked outside after another relative alerted her that a white car was parked at the southern end of the street.The woman said two men came from a nearby alley and went to the vehicle. According to her, the men then indicated that the driver was lying on the ground near the front passenger door.Caesar was reportedly still alive and said that two men had attacked him.The residents summoned an ambulance and police ranks from the East La Penitence Police Station.Caesar is believed to have succumbed before arriving at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Police stated that Caesar was shot at close range just below the left armpit. From the size of the wound, detectives believe that the killer used a .32 revolver. Caesar’s two mobile phones, his car keys and cash were missing. |
