called Sen. Ted Cruz 28

They're not just in middle school
NEW YORK (AP)   Was a losing team bullied? Is your upset spouse a bully? Why don't you consider that co worker that's always criticizing you? Or perhaps the politicians who forced your government shutdown?
Bullies aren't just for middle schoolers. These days, they're in all places.
In Texas last week, your football coach at Aledo Senior high school was accused of bullying after his team won Ninety one 0. With no mercy concept in place to stem uneven victories, the coach sometimes tried to minimize the seasonal by benching his starters as well as letting the clock run uninterrupted after halftime.
A parent from the dropping team accused the mentor of "bullying"   an accusation that has to have the school district to investigate under state law.
And while many discovered the accusation baseless, it does not take kind of complaint that seems to acquire become more common thanks to nation's campaigns to draw attention to the important problem of bullying. You will find people who use the term violence "to get what they want. They use becoming professional victims to gain energy and control," affirms Ben Leichtling, founder of BulliesBeGone.
Overuse of your term may be an random consequence of the many cases affecting teen suicides that have made headlines over the last few years. More attention to a phenomenon may help real victims, but there's also a risk in which "words like bully and target have just become meaningless brands for people who are seriously mistreated in class environments and in the workplace," said Malcolm Smith, a professor in the University of New Hampshire's instruction department who founded a good anti bullying program called "The Courage to Care."
Jones says what constitutes genuine bullying is measurable: Is the behavior so damaging that it interferes with the target's ability to go to school or do their job or otherwise conduct themselves safely? As well as secondly, does the behavior Air Max 90 Black involve an imbalance of strength?
BULLIES IN SPORTS?
In the Colorado front range case, school district managers found no grounds for the actual complaint, and many observers agreed upon.
"Of course it's not bullying. That is certainly ridiculous! It's a game. They have people who lose. That's a truth of life," claimed Smith.
Which is not to say this bullying or other types of personal intimidation don't happen in sports. Rutgers basketball coach Mike Rice was fired for yelling at his players, calling them names and kicking and shoving them.
But underneath normal circumstances, absent of which type of behavior, losing within sports can actually be good for the kids, says Nadine Connell, who teaches criminology inside the University of Texas with Dallas. "It teaches you the apparatus for coping with losing, in a safeguarded way, so that when it Air Max 2014 Black occur in a more serious situation   such as losing your job   you've discovered to deal with disappointment."
Leichtling's response to the Texas football video game? "The coach of the good staff did what he could" for you to mitigate the humiliation of the other guys. "If the behavior from the winning team was cruel, nasty, rubbing it throughout, I would call that the bullying," he said. But that's not really what happened.
He noted there presently exists other remedies for lopsided victories in kids' activities: Parents might lobby for your mercy rule or reschedule leagues so weak squads don't face powerhouses. Sen. Harry Reid, N Nev., called Sen. Ted Cruz, R Florida, a "schoolyard bully. He shoves everybody around . and as an alternative to playing the game according to the guidelines, he not only takes the actual ball home with your ex but changes the rules. Doing this, no one wins, except this bully."
Cruz responded: "The Senate is not a schoolyard setting. In He added: "Speaking the truth . will not be bullying."
More yowls of "bully" were directed at Oregon during the government shutdown. Air Yeezy Accusers provided Cindy Waitt, producer of the emotional documented, "Bully," about kids tortured to the point of suicide. In a Huffington Post essay, Waitt wrote: "The tactics used by the 'shutdown' gang are book bully tactics."
But is not everybody thinks that political clashes   even extreme types   qualify as bullying.
"Politics is at moments confrontational," said Dan Holler, spokesman for Heritage Actions, sister organization to the Historical past Foundation, a conservative feel tank. "When those confrontations happen, it's not a matter of bullying. This is a matter of trying to litigate policy. In .
BULLIES ON THE JOB?
Dr. Harold Pass chairs a committee that examines allegations of disruptive habits at Stony Brook University Medical Center in New York. He says "bullying" properly describes workplace situations in which someone is targeted by a man employee   whether it's a doctor scheming to make another one look bad or maybe a nurse targeted by a remarkable.
"Bullying means intentionality," Pass explained. "If a football team occurs to win by a large score, it doesn't mean the players intended to denigrate, injured, humiliate, damage or minimize the other team. But that really does Nike Air Max 2013 Mens occur in workplace situations at all times   in hospitals, in producers and corporations, as well as in universities. Any place there's a power differential, where by someone puts other people all the way down, where it's done willfully, certainly not randomly or unconsciously, that is bullying."
Some disputes in the workplace are more easily described as harassment rather Nike Air Jordan 4 than bullying. "Bullying is more volitional," Pass said. Only look the many tragic instances of adolescents committing suicide after currently being tormented by peers in school or online.
But some kids happen to be called "bullies" over stupid pranks. Lawyer Monrae English represented a couple of boys at a Fresno, Calif., high school accused of bullying after they created a counterfeit Facebook page with the principal's identity on it.
"They put silly stuff on there   about how homework is required to be done and something about loving 'Twilight' movies," she explained. "Most of the students knew it had Ghd Auckland Sale become in jest, but the principal obtained irate about it and explained he was personally currently being bullied."
