| An East La Penitence resident appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday after it wasWounded: Natasha Youngealleged that he threw a pot of ‘boiling rice’ on his older sister.Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry read the charge to Daniel Younge, 28, of 29 East La Penitence, Georgetown. It stated that on March 10, last, at East La Penitence he unlawfully assaulted Natasha Younge with the intent to maim, disfigure or cause actual bodily harm.The man who was unrepresented by an Attorney pleaded not guilty to the charge.Inspector Michael Grant stated that the defendant and the victim are siblings. He said that they live in the same house and on the day in question they had an argument over the cooking of food.Grant said that about 13:30hrs, the defendant took a pot of boiling rice and threw it on his sister. The defendant then took the pot and dealt his sister several lashes to the head and about the body. After brutally attacking his sister the man fled the scene.The Prosecutor objected to bail citing the nature, prevalence and penalty attached to the offence if the defendant is found guilty. Grant also pointed out that the woman is still hospitalized in a serious condition.The Magistrate upheld the Prosecution’s request and remanded the defendant to prison. She also requested that the Prosecutor give an update on the victim’s medical condition at the next court hearing on March 23.The 29 year -old mother of two, sustained burns to her back,Cheap NFL Jerseys, head, neck, abdomen and both hands. She is currently hospitalized at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) suffering from third degree burns. |
