Yonkers City Council President Chuck Lesnick said if a baby ended up being born when Riverfest began, they could have taken them out for their first Belstaff Uk drink this particular Saturday.
The 21st 12-monthly RiverFest, located in downtown Yonkers, attracted people from across Westchester seeking to savor recent weeks of summer temperature.
Several streets were shut off to traffic to provide place for three stages, hundreds of community vendors, food, carnival video game titles, art shows, face art work, dancing and even a giant trampoline show.
Attendees enjoyed uninterruptedly live, family friendly entertainment, together with a special performance by Brooklyn Hungry Marching Band   a steel ensemble that got locals dancing to their energetic move music. competitive trampoline company, which stopped by to accomplish death defying stunts prior to heading to China to participate.
Other performers included Jermaine Robert, winner of NBC The Speech; Gridline: a five piece psychedelic rock band via Purchase; famous tribute music group Kiss! Alive; and Nickelodeon beloved The Dirty Socks Clb.
Dan Lipka, executive director involving Yonkers Downtown BID, said, "We also been working on the Riverfest for months trying to make it a collaborative hard work with all the city departments and also community organizations in this area. The reason for the event is to get people to see what going on downtown. (In town Yonkers) has been improving consistently in the past, and we want to celebrate which by inviting people decrease and giving something to the local community."
Longtime Yonkers resident Aileen Kilcommons would be a little disappointed with the turnout this coming year, based on how much work has been put into growing the event.
"I think the festival is really pretty. I think they do a great job. I actually kind of wish there were other people who would come out, thinking of all the activity," your woman said. "I think they have a stunning day, and there a lot of pleasant things for everybody here."

This year's Yonkers riverfest was obviously a letdown from the previous previous 2 years. In this year's riverfest, there were less entertainment and sellers in attendance. Maybe the budget offers something to do with this. The early herd came and went by 4pm. In the height of the festivities soon after 4pm the crowd was concentrated extra by the metro north section. Main street was 50 percent emptied. Some vendors as well as classic cars were gone 5pm. The main stage attractions ended by 530pm. People were just simply walking and hanging around. I recently hope that next springs festival is a lot more organized and gives better entertainment than this particular one did.
I frankly i'm shocked to read someone imagined the turnout was low. My partner and i barely could get through the crowds of people by the train station and Vehicle der Donck Park all morning, and the lines were lengthy at the various food suppliers. People who got there at midday stayed for a few hours as well as left, with new folks coming all afternoon. People come, wander, visit, listen to music, and go. Lots more people come, wander, listen to tunes, and go. That is the manner it should to be!
We got at 12:30 plus left after 5. Primary Street was still crowded but still rocking when we left! I wonder where Ms. Kilcommon was she did not have the same experience.
