The Guyana Police Force has recommitted itself to intensifying its efforts to improve its collaboration with communities. This is part of its crime prevention and detection thrust. The commitment came at the end of aPolice Officers at the dinner that followed this year’s annual police officers’ conference.three-day Officers’ Conference.The Conference, which was held under the theme “Consolidating on partnership programmes, enhanced public trust and capacity building to provide effective security”, saw Police Officers being addressed by President David Granger and Minister of Public Security Khemraj Ramjattan.Both Ramjattan and Granger stressed the need for the police to regain lost public trust, with the President going on to urge the intensification of police partnerships with communities and community based organizations in order to achieve this.Over 164 officers attended the Conference, which concluded with the traditional Mess Dinner at the Police Officers’ Mess where nine Officers with an accumulated total of 291years of service were dined out and 22 newly promoted Officers dined in.During the Conference, the officers discussed the issues that were raised by President Granger and Minister Ramjattan.The Conference took cognisance of the directives contained in the presentation of President Granger which included the creation of safe communities which are necessary for the good life; the importance of public trust in the Guyana Police Force; reviewing the role of Community Policing Groups; a more collaborative culture of police operations; the fulfilling of the Police Force’s manpower establishment strength and greater police visibility in communities.According to the conference document the officers were motivated when the President stated that he was very proud of the work the Guyana Police Force has been doing in 2016.They were also buoyed when the Guyanese leader congratulated the Force on its ability to solve crimes more quickly than before as well as the changes that it has embarked upon.The officers also welcomed the president’s announcement that the Government was fully committed to giving the Police Force what it needs to keep Guyana safe, and this includes assets to the Criminal Investigation Department, to ensure that investigations are not interrupted or delayed.The officers also took cognisance of the interactive address given by the Minister Khemraj Ramjattan in which he focused on improving public trust in the Police Force, transforming the public image of the organization, Community Policing relationship among other issues.Commissioner of Police, Seelall Persaud, had emphasised that while  2015 had brought its own challenges, the Guyana Police Force was able to make a number of significant successful strides. The organization looks forward with great optimism to 2016.He said that Criminal Investigation Department operations in 2015 coupled  with the Force’s Social Crime Prevention Programme had served to reduce the fear of crime in the country and that by cultivating strong partnerships the Police Force was better able to serve communities in need, thereby increasing public safety and public trust.Plans for 2016 were presented and discussed and the officers focused in great detail, through significant deliberations, on the continued training of ranks both locally and overseas in order to improve capability and service delivery, the improvement of police community relations, the enhancement of public trust, crime reduction, traffic management, crime scene management, crime investigation and prosecution in the courts.The conference also heard presentations by the Police Legal Advisor Justice Claudette Singh among other experts in their respective fields.The conference was held at a time of mourning in the Guyana Police Force, and the officers noted the recognition of service of the late Assistant Commissioner Balram Persaud.Persaud was cremated last Sunday,Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic, succumbing weeks after a vehicular accident on the West Bank of Demerara.
