The Board of Directors of National Communications Network (NCN) has hired Communications Consultant,Lennox CornetteLennox Cornette, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the state-run broadcasting network.Cornette,Wholesale Jerseys 2017, who takes over from beleaguered former CEO, Molly Hassan, went through a round of interviews with the Board. According to the network yesterday, he emerged as the best candidate due to “his diverse communication, financial and executive management background.”They cited that he holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Australian Institute of Business, Diploma in Public Communication and Certificates in Planning and Promotion from Bailbrook College, England.“His work experience includes engagements with both the local and international private sector in fields of communication and management,” a release from NCN added. “His last position was Deputy CEO of Jailing Forest Industries Inc., where he was in charge of administration and operations. He is the author of the book, “The Development of Telecommunications in Guyana (1884-1994).”In January, Hassan, along with the ICT and Human Resources Manager, resigned in the midst of NCN’s ‘revitalization’. NCN had been operating at a loss for some time and the Board had reportedly been concerned about her performance.The current Board of Directors was appointed and installed in September of 2015. After conducting a strategic review of the operation and condition of the entity, they had embarked on the “four pillars revitalization project.”In pillar one, the company intends to focus on identifying a clear strategic direction based on national imperatives. This includes the production of a comprehensive document by the Board which provides the basis for the second, third and fourth pillars of the project.For pillar two, the Board highlighted restructuring management to meet the new strategic direction. This included changes at the administrative level of the organization, based on revised terms of reference and competencies for the new structure.Several positions including those of CEO, Human Resources, ICT, Engineering and Programming were thus reportedly rationalized. The re-branding of NCN’s radio and television programming is also reportedly on the agenda, following a review of the programmes, systems, staff and technical facilities.In addition to internal work being done on re-branding, re-programming, training and creating a new content culture, a call was also sent out for announcers, producers and fresh programme ideas. There had also been tours to NCNs’ national substations, as well as equipment audits and technical consultations with local and international experts.The current administration had ordered audits into several state agencies, including NCN. This audit into the operations of NCN had turned up several breaches at the entity over the preceding years, including a major fuel racket.NCN has been under scrutiny for years, after the discovery that despite the state paying millions of dollars in subventions, the entity still managed to rack up losses. It was also owed millions of dollars by advertisers and others.
