The body of an unidentified man was fished out of a trench in the New Roman Catholic Burial Site, Le Repentir Cemetery, yesterday.Kaieteur News understands that police received reports about a body being seen at Le Repentir Cemetery on Thursday evening, and they conducted a search of the perimeter, but found nothing. However, checks were made inside the cemetery yesterday and the body was found.The man who appeared to be middle aged and of African descent was clad only in a pair of long black pants.Several feet from where the dead man was found were some items of clothing: a red cap, red T-shirt, a blue shirt, a pair of brown leather slippers and grey long pants. They appeared to belong to the victim.The man’s dentures were also found some fifteen feet away from his body floating on a tulip leaf, and a corked rum bottle was seen near his feet in the trench.With the police presence, persons quickly gathered at the scene, with some saying that they knew the deceased as “bush man,” since he frequently visits the cemetery “to pick wild pine from the Mahogany trees and sell them”.One onlooker opined that the man could have been climbing one of the Mahogany trees when he met his demise, since the said tree was over the trench where he was found.According to Sexton of Le Repentir Cemetery,NFL Jerseys Outlet, Lalldeo Rampersaud, one of the workers in the cemetery saw the body in the morning and reported it to him, and he in turn reported the matter to the City Constabulary who then called in the police.
