Wright explained his main goal is to "recruit, sustain and connect students to move the actual University forward."
"We do that one student at a time," Wright said. "Every student is valuable and features their own mark on the College. If we accept them and they choose to come here, they're a Falcon."
Wright grew up in Bowling Green and said he was around the University a lot during his childhood for various reasons.
He decided to attend Bowling Natural because it seemed like the right match, he said. As a student, Wright stated he gained valuable practical experience for his job these days by working as a university tour guide and learning how to listen to what students and also families are looking for.
During his time period at the University, Wright also found his wife, Tracey Stroh.
Tracey said the pair met in a creative writing course during their freshman year.
In addition the couple love Bowling Environmentally friendly, but Tracey said both she and Wright have a desire to assist young people.
Wright said his love for your University grew from attending sports events at the College as a child with his father.
Cal Bowers, director of corporate plus foundation relations at the Higher education and former University baseball player, said this aid from Wright was evident.
"Van was obviously a very vocal supporter of BGSU and a lot of the times when I stomach to the sidelines, I would become 'Who is this guy yelling back here?'" Bowers said. "I liked his or her style 'cause he ended up being on my side."
Inspite of not living in the area given that 1977, Wright said having roots in Bowling Green helped bring him back to the community privately and professionally in October 2005.
After volunteering to the Alumni Board of Administrators for five years, Wright said he made the decision to sell his enterprise and knew quickly just what exactly he wanted to do next.
"It took no time to decide whatever would like to do was are employed at the University," Wright stated.
Wright said his role ultimately morphed into what it is today: recruiting, retaining and relating to move the University in general forward.
Now in the ninth year of the recruiting never-ending cycle, Wright said his success stories tend to be legendary.
"I can talk about move on after graduate who prevailed," Wright said.
Wright said he'd not be able to do what he is doing successfully without the help of a team.
Deanna Vatan Woodhouse, overseer of the Office of the Split of Student Affairs, explained Wright's positive energy and adoration for the University are catching.
"When you work with him, you feel like you're doing the right thing when you are at [the University]  but you also feel like there is certainly so much more that we could be doing," she said.
Your woman said Wright's genuine attitude will be "captivating" for students.
"He is part of their [University] experience before they even come to the actual University," Woodhouse said. "He isn't just trying to sell you something; he's trying to tell you how amazing [the University] can be for any one individual."
Andy Alt, director of New Student Orientation and Fresh Programs, said Wright's genuine personality allows him to connect with all of different types of people.
"One of the things that genuinely impresses me about Van is his ability to connect with anyone of any age," Alt said. "Not even just age, it can be race and ethnicity and i believe it's because he is an incredibly legitimate person."
