Brain damage behind light sentence for Ex
A FORMER Nowra man will spend just two more years in jail for shooting dead the lover of his former wife Kathy in the State's central west.
Tony James Riley pleaded guilty to manslaughter for the Valentine's Day killing last year of David Glenn Nichols who was gunned down outside his Gulgong home.
Riley, who the court was told was suffering from severe clinical depression at the time, later turned the gun on himself in the office of his Mudgee real estate agency, causing extensive brain damage.
That brain damage was found in the NSW Supreme Court on Friday to be more punishment than the legal system could impose, with Justice Jane Matthews sentencing Riley to a minimum of two years in jail.

"One of the most important of these is the fact that the person who is essentially responsible for your loss ceased to exist when he pulled the trigger on himself on February 14 last year.

Mr Nichols' mother and his sisters nodded sadly as Justice Matthews explained her reasons for significantly reducing Riley's sentence.
Justice Matthews said Riley's frontal lobe injury left him with significant behavioural impairments, including a level of Cialis Original Online inappropriate cheerfulness and an inability to feel guilt or remorse.
"The offender will need a great deal of rehabilitative care, assistance and supervision given his Levitra Pills Online multiple problems in order to reintroduce him into the community," she said.
