| The final round of the Yarrowkabra Community Policing Group bi-annual Spelling Bee Competition concluded yesterday, with the Kaneville Development Group copping the top juniors’ prize, while Yarrowkabra Policing Group emerged winners in the Senior Category.After three weeks of eliminating their competitors, only three groups made it to the final: Georgetown Development Group, Kaneville Development Group,John Terry Chelsea Jersey UK, and Yarrowkabra Policing Group. The competition which commenced in the second week of August, was held at Yarrowkabra.The groups were divided into junior and senior categories and there were outstanding performances from some participants while others struggled. However, all participants will be receiving certificates of participation.The winning groups were presented with trophies and outstanding participants were given monetary rewards for their sterling performances.Among the top performers were Scott Figuerido and Dexter Simmonds of Yarrowkabra,Rocky Bleier Steelers Jersey, Hannah Singh and Nakaya Carmichael of Kaneville.Participants of the Yarrowkabra Policing Group Spelling Bee Competition, Judges and Chairman of the Yarrowkabra Policing Group, Ovid Austin (right).According to Austin Ovid, Chairman of the Yarrowkabra Policing Group,Roger Clemens Red Sox Jersey, this is the group’s third Spelling Bee Competition and it was organized to coincide with the beginning of Education Month. He posited that after all the excitement from the July-August holidays,Hyun-Jin Ryu Jersey, the aim was to align students in the classroom mode.It was noted that this is part of the policing group’s effort to give back to the community. Austin enlightened that the policing group is establishing a community centre where the focus will be placed on sports and literacy. This, he emphasized,Pierre Turgeon Jersey, will be a safe haven for youths as their energies will be channeled positively.He noted that this year, the competition received support from the Ministries of Education, and Home Affairs,Paul Krause Vikings Throwback Jersey, and the Commander of A Division. |
