| – APNU’s Youth ArmA Partnership for National Unity (APNU) Youth Arm says that the ruling administration which has been elected by the people can also be taken to task by the people, and people are calling for a Government of National Unity.The Guyana Police Force approved a permit for the Youth Coalition for Transformation to hold a march around the streets of Georgetown yesterday which commenced at the Arch on Brickdam and culminated at the Stabroek Market Square where a public meeting was held.Youth Coalition for Transformation members marching along the permitted route yesterday.The route which was approved was; West along Brickdam, North along the western carriageway of Avenue of the Republic, West into Church Street, North along the western carriageway of Main Street, East into Lamaha Street, South along the eastern carriageway of Main Street, South into the Avenue of the Republic and West into Croal Street, to Stabroek Market Square.Scores turned out for the Youth Coalition for Transformation, while the marchers chanted; “No time for wine and dine,Chicago Cubs Jerseys, Surujbally must resign,” “Rohee why you shoot we general,” “Stay away from Hits and Jams it’s a time bomb,” “We did not vote for quack quack,” amongst other taunts.According to James Bond of the Youth Coalition for Transformation, the Private Sector Commission feels that they could do as they like, say as they like without reprimand. However, people must speak out for their rights and justice must prevail.Amid resounding calls for a boycott of Hits and Jams and Kashif & Shanghai, Bond said the Youth Coalition for Transformation wants to hear “no sad stories from the PPP,” while the time to talk and discuss has elapsed.“For all these years what have you done for the ghetto, what have you done for poor people. It’s not about black and Indian we are looking for poor people,” Bond said. “Private Sector Commission what did you do for poor people, Hits and Jams what have you done for poor people, Kashif & Shanghai what have you done for poor people?”The party also lambasted the Commissioner of Police pertaining to rape allegations made recently. “The only defense to rape is consent.”Youth Coalition for Transformation representative Mia Ifill said the PPP is not in touch with social activism, since the party discriminates based on party politics.She said the coalition will continue to protest and picket wherever wrong is being done.Another representative Ganesh Naipaul, Ganesh Naipaul said that the Government has dominated every sector with PPP representatives, and as such there can be no change with the running of the country. |
