Opening its doors for the very first time to the public on Monday the EA Health and Wellness Centre on Coop Crescent, Linden, has definitely made a positive impact on the community, judging from the steady stream of people who lined up to join.Apart from redefining the ‘face’ of Coop Crescent and the Riverfront, this facility which reportedly cost over $60M is geared towards redefining people’s concept of health, and thereby help them to live healthier lives through exercise and proper nutrition .Dr Joseph Haynes,Wholesale NFL Jerseys, who owns and manages the facility, which incorporates a modern gym complete with sauna and spa facilities and health food bar, said that he has always enjoyed life, and would like others to do the same. He noted that this could only be achieved with optimum health.“Who wants to have aches and pains-who wants to be sick?” Dr Haynes asked. An advocate for prevention, or how not to get sick, Dr Haynes a doctor of Naturopathic Sciences since 1992, said that it is his love for people and Linden that inspired him to establish the facility here.“One should not duplicate other people’s business and expect to succeed; one has to feel a passion for people–and of course we are going to succeed.”He also pointed out that he learnt an important lesson from his mother who was a successful entrepreneur, and that is to always provide quality service and satisfaction.Dr Haynes is a certified Clinical Nutritionist. He migrated to the US with his family in1975, and entered the US Navy the following year.He later attended the Ohio State University, Auburn University in Alabama, Clayton School of Natural Sciences and Chapman’s College in California.“When I left in’75 I promised to come back and I did. I came back in 1992 and started working here, but I’ve always gone private.“I later started a live programme on health in Georgetown in 1997. It was free of cost. I still do that, and also offer free live clinics. I’ve never had any sponsorship for my programmes, because I did not want any stipulations.”The new Wellness Centre in LindenDr Haynes said he also intends to help change peoples’ concept of entertainment, by introducing weekend theatre, where both adults and children could be entertained in a “great atmosphere”. There will be special shows for children too.Apart from theatre there will also be monthly live musical entertainment. The facility was officially opened on Saturday last, when special invitees including Prime Minister Sam Hinds, were given a grand tour, and treated to sumptuous vegetarian delicacies. The Prime Minister was even afforded the opportunity to be the first person to try out the various pieces of equipment.Dr Haynes was applauded by all for his initiative in establishing the facility in Linden despite the economic challenges the town is currently facing. But according to Prime Minister Hinds, with the expected influx of people that will be passing through Linden shortly as a result of the two-way traffic between Guyana and Brazil via the Takuta Bridge, the people of Linden must construe diverse means to ensure that those passing through be ‘enticed’ to stop and sample what we have to offer. And Dr Joseph Oswald Haynes, well known as JOF Haynes is convinced that what he has to offer would appeal to even the most exacting ‘palates’.The EA Health and Wellness centre is the first of its kind within Linden, and Region Ten. Services offered at the facility include, a conference and recreation centre where wedding receptions and other formal activities can be held, the Eureka Laboratory, Health clinic and body management, colon and physical therapy, Jacuzzi and sauna rental and the healthy foods cafeteria.(Enid Joaquin) |
