Engineering and manufacturing corporations from the region were able to learn how their businesses could benefit from a University's School of Executive at a recent event provided by HotProspects.
Hot Prospects supply grant funding to support graduate student recruitment to local SMEs
The varsity of Engineering team spoke with the employers representing the majority of the region's SMEs about the importance of higher-level skills in the engineering segment, while many of the regional service providers were able to highlight quite a few grants and funded organization support opportunities available.
A range of speakers included Professor Scott Stewart, the founding Head from the School; Angela Borman, collaborative projects officer regarding Siemens Industrial Turbomachinery; Jim Brown, Main Engineer of Project Perfect little angels Bulldog a world motorcycle land rate record attempt.
Professor Stewart said: "The event has been really prosperous. It has helped us to be able to forge stronger training plus research links with regional small businesses."
Project Manager for HotProspects, Laura Clark, said: "When we read the University of Lincoln would be opening the first function built engineering school in britain for more than 20 years we suspected this was something we were enthusiastic to get involved with. We started to imagine how we could best offer the new School and an occurrence that bought everyone alongside one another the University, local assistance providers and SMEs seemed what you want."
Local employer, Ben Senior, of Amari Plastics said: "It is really important to us to maintain to date on what's going on locally in the industry, particularly the launch on the School of Engineering. The particular speakers were fantastic and I've come away having made quite a few really good contacts which will help to use my business forward."
Jim Madden, of Hazid Technologies, added: "It would be a very interesting event and I enjoy talking about recruiting graduates straight into Hazid soon."
While the University is already up and running in terms of instructing (the team is currently based on the Think Tank and delivering sessions to the first year with Engineering undergraduates there, Moncler Vancouver in Siemens' workshops and in workshops during Lincoln College) the new, state-of-the-art building is due to open in the future this year. Plans are already remaining made to host a similar occurrence once the building opens which is hoped that even more of this region's engineering sector corporations will attend.
