and was introduced to Petersen with a handful of plays he had drawn up. Kellen

When you consider the new prototype for leadership for Boise State football, you go straight to some second year guys. Players with football smarts and swagger, and we're not just talking Kellen Moore. When you consider the new prototype waarvan vele te maken terugkeer bezoeken aan Gettysburg De stichting werkt samen met organisaties for leadership for Boise State football, you go straight to some second year E anche il primo titolo internazionale come allenatore per Jurgen Klinsmann guys. Players with football smarts and swagger, and we're not just talking Kellen Moore. Take a look at an unlikely source from an unlikely place: the offensive line. The group that had to endure a merciless microscope last year has survived and is stronger for the experience. And here comes sophomore center Thomas Byrd. "There's not a bigger football junkie on our team, including the quarterbacks," said coach Chris Petersen of the guy who started all 13 games last year as a redshirt freshman.Byrd, like Moore, is a coach's son, and was introduced to Petersen with a handful of plays he had drawn up. Kellen, with what is becoming a trademark grin, says that's typical of Byrd. "We just hope he gets 11 guys on the drawing." Moore claims most of the plays feature Byrd and "Bacon" (defensive tackle Mike Atkinson) as the lead blockers on power running plays. But seriously, folks, Byrd is an emerging force on the field and in the huddle. You can see him at work tomorrow at 2:30 in the second scrimmage of spring football.Jared Zabransky says his next stop is Canada. The former Boise State star is working on a deal with Edmonton of the CFL, a place where it seems he could prosper. Zabransky has been contemplating his football future since being waived by the Pittsburgh Steelers last July he was in essence was the odd man out when the Steelers drafted Dennis Dixon. Zabransky, over two years removed now from the hook 'n lateral and the Statue of Liberty, would be joining his BSU predecessor north of the border. Ryan Dinwiddie is entering his fourth season with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. And Edmonton is where Dinwiddie's predecessor, Bart Hendricks, played.Imagine Bryan McGregor and Mark Bomersback on the same line in the Kelly Cup Playoffs. Just on the same team would be enough for the Idaho Steelheads, considering the way McGregor is playing now and the way Bomersback was performing when he left Idaho. Bomersback was the Steelheads' offensive dynamo until getting an AHL assignment with Binghamton a month ago, scoring 46 points in 40 games. Coach Derek Laxdal is betting on Bomersback's return, including him on the playoff roster he submitted to the ECHL. Laxdal has defenseman lo que oblig贸 Seattle a remontar un primer d茅ficit medio por cuarta semana consecutiva Matt Stephenson on his list, too. Stephenson is currently on an AHL callup with Providence. Goalie Matt Climie is on the ultimate callup, expected to get his second NHL start tonight for the Dallas Stars when they visit MinnesotaWhen I see something like this, I think of it as a tribute to Idaho Stampede coach Bryan Gates. The All D League teams for 2008 09 were released yesterday, and there wasn't a Stampede player on the first team. Nor was there one on the second team. Lance Allred did earn third team honors. The Stamps, the defending D League champions, are 29 18, tied for the second most wins in the circuit and even with Utah atop the West Division. The fact that Gates can coax that kind of performance from a squad without any first team or second team all league players says something. The Stampede begin the final week of the regular season tomorrow night against Bakersfield in Qwest Arena.Coaching news abounds in college basketball. There was a jolt in Logan when it was learned Washington State had interviewed Utah State's Stew Morrill Sunday for the vacancy created by Tony Bennett's departure to Virginia. But Morrill, who's taken the Aggies to six NCAA Tournaments in his 11 years at USU, removed his name from consideration yesterday. That was probably related to the fact that the Cougars had zeroed in on Portland State's Ken Bone, who now has the job. Bone, of course, finished his season at Taco Bell Arena 2 weeks ago. Another guy who passed through the Boise Bracket, Xavier's Sean Miller, has accepted the head coaching post at Arizona.David Carter is settling in as Nevada's new basketball coach. Carter has been an assistant for the Wolf Pack the last 10 years, and the program has been rolling for the last seven, so keeping it in the family seemed a natural. Carter replaced Mark Fox, arguably the Pack's best ever coach. Fox left for Georgia after compiling five straight 20 win seasons, building on the foundation created by Trent Johnson. Carter promises a more up tempo style for a Nevada squad that returns all but one player off this season's 21 13 squad. But one newcomer won't be showing up as planned this fall. Mark McLaughlin, a top 100 national recruit in the class of 2008 out of Kenmore, WA, has decided not to attend Nevada because of Fox's departure. McLaughlin has been granted a release from his letter of intent.A breakthough 2008 season for former Boise Hawk Ricky Nolasco earned him the Opening Day start for Florida yesterday versus Washington. The Marlins pounded the Nationals 12 6, and Nolasco got the win. He allowed five runs, as an otherwise solid outing was tempered in his sixth and final inning of work by a three run homer off the bat of Adam Dunn. Nolasco made his case as Florida's ace last year, going 15 8 with a 3.52 ERA. The key for the 26 year old righthander was strikeout to walk ratio: 186 Ks to just 42 bases on balls. Nolasco was a key component of the Hawks' 2002 Northwest League championship team he was 7 2 with a 2.48 ERA in 15 starts.Things would seem to bode well today for the College of Idaho baseball team, hosting a doubleheader against Central Washington. It was Central whom C of I pounded in a twin bill a week ago in Ellensburg, winning 27 7 and 13 2. The weather also bodes well it'll be the nicest day in the brief history of Wolfe Field in Caldwell. The Coyotes are 22 10 and have won 11 of their last 13 games. They had a 10 game winning streak snapped Saturday against Concordia in Portland. Before 45,000 fans, including President Richard Nixon, the New York Yankees spoil the managerial debut of Ted Williams at Washington's RFK Stadium by beating the Senators, 8 4. However, the Hall of Famer who in 1941 was the last player to hit over .400 would lead the previous year's cellar dwellers to a surprising fourth place finish and a solid 86 76 record. Williams would be voted the American League's 1969 Manager of the Year.(Tom Scott hosts the Scott Slant segment Sunday nights at 10:30PM on KTVB's Sunday Sports Extra and anchors five sports segments each weekday on 1350 KTIK/The Ticket.
